Richard Stibbs

The University of Cambridge's representative governor.  Educated at Bristol Grammar School (and regularly played rugby as loose-head prop against Monmouth) and Pembroke College Cambridge where he took his B.A. in Theoretical Physics. His postgraduate work took him into computing in which he has made his career finishing as Head of User Services for the University Computing Service.  He has taught mathematics and computing at undergraduate and graduate level throughout his career as a Fellow of Downing College.  For the college, he is currently President, Praelector, Fellows' Steward, Secretary to the Governing Body and University Senior Computer Officer.

As a founder shareholder in 1970 in a successful technology transfer company (Applied Research of Cambridge), he has had a lifelong interest in technology transfer and early stage venture capital and was chairman of Cambridge Research and Innovation Ltd. He is married with two grown-up sons. His main leisure interests are wine, gardening and cooking.
